You want to make the checkout process go seamlessly to make the process smooth, and your customers return again. With the sales tax shown separetely in your cart along with different shipping options that the customer can choose from, and will help them feel they have a little control. It is also important to use trusted options for checkout such as stripe or paypal that will help customers feel at east and that your site is not a scam. Customer satisfaction is what will bring them back to your site, and help promote your company. Without it, they will choose someone else to purchase their products from. ~Elisa~
